The School

Judy teaches the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance syllabus (I.S.T.D.). Pupils from 5 years upwards are regularly entered for ballet, tap and modern examinations and they generally achieve good pass levels in all subjects.

There are two very experienced pianists in the school and they help to bring a sense of fun, variety and musicality to the classes of the younger children, and have been with the school for over twenty years.

Judy encourages pupils to achieve a lot in each lesson, whilst thoroughly enjoying their dancing with their friends, so that they never become bored and are always striving to reach a new grade and greater ability. Many of the pupils go to their academic school together which creates a delightful feeling of camaraderie in the dancing classes, making them a joy to teach. Pupils attend from as far afield as Cromer, Fakenham, Reepham and Poringland so schools are well represented from around the County.Over the years Judy has also taught many special needs pupils in her mainstream classes and for 12 years she taught at one of the main special needs schools locally.ExamsThe frequency of exams is determined by the number of pupils ready at any given time. Judy takes great care to ensure that when exams are entered, thoseinvolved are ready. The value of this is illustrated by the fact that in 55 years of teaching and entering exams year by year with the I.S.T.D. (who set a very high standard), Judy has only had about 20 cases where the standard was not reached. In general the pass rate is at a very high level.
